One of the things we’re focused on at Love in a Bowl is the idea of building community.
We don’t grow vegetables to make a profit or to secure fortunes, we do it as a way of giving back to our community, a way of supporting people in need and making sure they feel loved – even if only through a meal.
But for as much as we put out there, we also get it right back and none of what we do would be possible without the generous support from what we call the Love Network.
There are a lot of people in the Love Network, from the people that make production happen in different ways, to our local and international volunteers, all the way to our end consumers and friends who support us through monthly and annual orders. Everyone plays an important role and it is these angels that make our work possible.
This month we wanted to give a special shout out to two groups:
Hugo and Jen: This incredible South African-French couple spent three weeks volunteering with Love in a Bowl before their wedding. They produced the most delicious vegan mayo and pesto crème, both of which you can buy at our weekly farm stall.
Samia and Tata from U2 Africa: Who crossed the globe from Brazil and Switzerland to come and support us in the fields.
Eric and Neil: These two friends supported us enormously this month by providing a stove for the Hangberg clinic, 2 Jojo tanks to help irrigate our Longkloof farm, and a truck-load of compost.
Barbara and Josh: Who are still coming on a weekly basis to help wherever it is needed, like maintenance, packing and harvesting!
Thank you, friends, for your consistent help and support and all the ways you help us achieve our goals.
At the end of the day, it really does take an everyone to make things happen and we’re so grateful to have our home in this generous community.
