Another month on the farm means more planting, harvesting, cooking, composting, and showing up for our community in every way we can. Behind every vegetable harvested and every meal shared is a network of people helping keep this circle moving.
As we head deeper into the year, we’re reaching out for a little extra support to help us continue this work sustainably. Alongside that ask, we’re also sharing a few stories, updates, and moments from the farm that remind us why this work matters so deeply.

China’s been part of the Cook Up family since the very beginning. Between his kitchen skills and sense of humour that keeps us all laughing through the madness, he’s truly one of a kind. He’s always willing to get stuck in and be part of the solution. If you see him around Hout Bay give him a high 5 the man is a legend.
Our Impact
April was another powerful reminder of what community can do when people come together with care and intention 🌱
Over the month, we harvested 1 220kg of fresh produce, helping nourish 4 066 people across our community. Through Cook Up, an additional 3 150 meals were prepared and shared — bringing our total meals for the month to 7 216.
Our composting initiative also continued to grow, with 86 750kg of organic waste diverted from landfill, and 10 000kg of compost donated back into community growing spaces.
Every harvest, every meal, and every kilogram kept out of landfill is part of something much bigger — a community working together towards dignity, nourishment, and long-term change. 💛
