How you can help

Be a part of this Absolutely Magical Community Affair.

There are so many ways to join: Become a Member; Volunteer; Donate Funds; Buy Veggies; Let us grow veggies on your land. Everyone has something lovely to offer as we all work to ensure beautiful food for all.

With the collective effort of a courageous community, we can ensure the most vulnerable families, young children and the elderly in Hout Bay have a weekly supply of fresh, nutritious and sustainably sourced vegetables in their tummies.

Become a Love in a Bowl Member

Members are the core supporters of Love in a Bowl’s community work, helping us succeed in our mission.
It’s an annual membership that comes with so many benefits. Read more about member benefits.

Purchase your Personal Bag of Veggies Each Week

Love in a Bowl is a non-profit organisation and all proceeds go directly back into looking out for the most vulnerable of our community. Your purchase of a Veggie Bag guarantees you the most delicious, organic,
locally grown veggies delivered to your door with the satisfaction of knowing you are also supporting localemployment, training, and ensuring food for Hout Bay’s very young vulnerable children and the elderly.

Volunteer

Jump in on any level! Plant veggies, maintain our crop circles, harvest with us, deliver into the community, engage with us on social media. Love in a Bowl is a community based initiative that invites any and all to
volunteer with us to make our programmes stronger.

Donate

We are grateful for the amazing generosity of individuals and corporations who come alongside us with donations to support the community work. We know we cannot do this on our own. Donations enable us to increase our vegetable production, making it possible for us to provide even more healthy food and employment to our neighbours. Thank you for considering a donation to Love in a Bowl. (We are a PBO with Section 18A status). We offer several payment methods for your convenience and kindness.

Offer Land for more Veggie Circles

If you have a piece of land suitable to grow vegetable circles, you can join the growing number of Hout Bay residents who have invited us to transform part of their private property into food for the community.

Love in a Bowl started as one veggie circle 5 ½ years ago on a small farm property across the street from Mandela Park in Hout Bay. Over the following three years that one circle expanded to 12 circles. And then
a wonderful surprise came into the Love in a Bowl story: Two local land owners offered up a piece of their personal land for additional circles to be grown. Just before COVID came to town we had 17 thriving circles.

During this year, as the story of these veggie circles spread in the Hout Bay community, several other land owners have contacted us with the offer to grow veggies for the community on their private land as well. The good news is that we are currently at 48 crop circles, spread over six different properties. Our goal is to grow into a total of 96 crop circles in the year ahead of us. Can you help us get there?

What used to be an old fruit tree orchard, horse paddocks, grazing areas, grasslands and grape orchards have taken on a new life with new purpose. Even the back yard of the community programme iKhaya Le Themba in Imizamo Yethu is being transformed into crop circles. This beautiful transformation of land sits at the heart of what Love in a Bowl is all about: the Community coming together in a Compassionate and Collaborative way to ensure none of our members go hungry. There seems to be no limit to creative love in our little town. Please contact us if you want us to have a look at your land as well!
