Hello FamilyĀ
As we reflect on the past month, one word shines brightest: collaboration. We are filled with immense gratitude for the incredible energy and support that has flowed into our farm from both local partners and international friends. This powerful spirit of togetherness has allowed our impact to ripple outwards in our community in beautiful new ways.
Together, we have been able to bring new life to an early childhood learning centre with essential repairs and upgrades. We’ve shared thousands of warm, nourishing meals with the children of Imizamo Yethu through our community cook-ups and filled the air with joy and music at a special concert at an aftercare in Hangberg.
All of this has happened alongside the vital, daily rhythm of our community veggie garden duties and weekly deliveries while our Circle of Life compost area continues to thrive. We’ve successfully turned tons of organic “waste” into the black gold that feeds our veggie beds, creating a truly sustainable circular economy where every element gives back.
None of this is possible alone so thank you all for being a vital part of this beautiful, growing community.
Our VolunteersĀ
It has been a busy month at the farm with a huge influx of volunteers and some very exciting community collaborations. – from fixing up an ECD with Mensch and Funda Kunye, to a few days of farm fun with visits from two international schools.Ā
ā These brilliant young individuals not only tended the gardens alongside our team but also got the opportunity to join in on fun at the aftercare centre in Hangberg.

Ā
From planting seedlings to picking up tools, their hands-on commitment reminded us that real change happens when we work together. It has been a beautiful exchange of cultures, kindness, and purpose – and weāre so grateful to have shared it with you all.ā
Ā

Thank you so very much, your work was truly meaningful and you’ve left a mark that will continue to grow.
May 2025 Impact: Growing TogetherĀ
Last month Love in a Bowl continued to nourish both people and land. Together, we fed 9,570 children across Early Development Centres in Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu, delivered 6,177 home-cooked meals through Community Cookup, and rerouted a massive 30,000kg of organic waste from landfillāturning scraps into soil and meals into moments of dignity and nutrition.

Every number in this report represents a real act of care, a shared meal, a cleaner environment, and a stronger community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Letās keep growing together.
Celebrating the Father Who Grow, Give & GuideĀ
This Sunday we are honouring the dads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father-figures who show up with love, strength, and steady hands. Whether theyāre tending gardens, building structures, cooking meals, or nurturing young minds ā we see your impact every day at Love in a Bowl.
To the men who help sow seeds of kindness, resilience, and care; Thank you and Happy Fatherās Day!

Honouring the Power of Young PeopleĀ
This Youth Day we celebrate and honour the spirit, resilience, and potential of the next generation. At Love in a Bowl, we continue to strive to make an impact on our youth through our farm visits where we teach little hands how to grow veggies from a seed – giving them vital means to feed their families in the future. We also support these growing minds through the schoolchildren we feed, and in our volunteer programs. We hope to build a more nourished and sustainable future for the next generation.

Youth Day is a reminder that change begins with courage ā and that our young people are powerful drivers of that change. Here’s to a future rooted in justice, equity, and opportunity for all š
As ever, thank you for all your support. We are humbled by the growing influx of hands and hearts committed to helping our cause grow from strength to strength.
